Here are two common and popular tools for quality measurement of garments in the garment industry:

1.     Percent Defective (%) and

2.     Defects per Hundred Units (DHU)

Today's article will discuss in detail about Defects per hundred units (DHU).

Before starting the discussion on DHU, first, you need to know about Defect and Defective Garment. Because these two terms are related to DHU diagnosis.

Defect is all the defects in the garments that cause the garments to fail to meet the quality standards of the buyer. Simply put, defects are those non-conformance or defects of the garments due to which the end customer does not accept the product. For example, Broken Stitch, Brocken Button, Hole, Stain, Spot, Brocken Seam etc. are some of the common defects of garments.

Simply put, Defective Garment is Defective Garment. In other words, the garments that get stuck in the quality table due to getting defects are called defective garments.

আজকের লেখায় Defects per hundred units (DHU) নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করা হবে।

DHU নিয়ে আলোচনা শুরু করার পুর্বে প্রথমে Defect এবং Defective Garment সম্পর্কে জেনে নিতে হবে। কারণ এই দুটি শব্দ DHU নির্ণয়ের সাথে সম্পর্কিত।

Defect হচ্ছে গার্মেন্টেসের সে সকল ত্রুটি যার কারণে গার্মেন্টসটি বায়ারের কোয়ালিটি স্ট্যান্ডার্ড পূরণ করতে ব্যর্থ হয়। সহজভাবে বলতে গেলে Defect হচ্ছে গার্মেন্টসের সেই সকল non-conformance বা ত্রুটি যা কারণে ক্রেতা (end customer) পণ্যটি গ্রহণ করে না। যেমন, Broken Stitch, Brocken Button, Hole, Stain, Spot, Brocken Seam ইত্যাদি হচ্ছে গার্মেন্টসের কিছু Common Defects.

সহজ কথায়, Defective Garment হচ্ছে Defect যুক্ত Garment. অর্থাৎ Defects পাওয়ার কারণে যে গার্মেন্টগুলো কোয়ালিটি টেবিলে আটকা পড়ে যায় সেই গার্মেন্টগুলোকে Defective Garment বলে।

Defects per Hundred Units (DHU)

Defects per hundred units (DHU) is the total number of defects found per 100 pieces of garments checked.

Defects per Hundred Units (DHU) diagnosis method

When a quality inspector checks garments for DHU diagnosis, he has to record the following two things in one format-

1.     The total number of garments checked (Total Pieces Checked) and

2.     The total number of defects found in the checked garments (Total Number of Defects Found).

Now DHU needs to be determined using the following formula-

Defects per hundred units (DHU) = (Total Number of Defects Found × 100) / Total Pieces Checked

Defects per hundred units (DHU) হচ্ছে প্রতি 100 পিস চেক করা গার্মেন্টসে মোট কতটি Defect পাওয়া গেল তার সংখ্যা।

Defects per Hundred Units (DHU) নির্ণয়ের পদ্ধতি

DHU নির্ণয়ের জন্য একজন কোয়ালিটি ইন্সপেক্টর যখন গার্মেন্টস চেক করে তখন তাকে নিচের দুটি জিনিস একটি ফরমেটে লিপিবদ্ধ করতে হবে-

১। মোট কত পিস গার্মেন্টস চেক করা হয়েছে তার সংখ্যা (Total Pieces Checked) এবং

২। চেক করা গার্মেন্টসে মোট কতটি Defect পাওয়া গেছে তার সংখ্যা (Total Number of Defects Found)।

এখন নিচের সূত্রটির সাহায্যে DHU নির্ণয় করতে হবে-

Defects per hundred units (DHU) = (Total Number of Defects Found × 100)/Total Pieces Checked

Example:

Total Pieces Checked = 600 pieces.

Total Number of Defects = 140.

So, according to the Defects per hundred units (DHU) formula,

DHU = (140 × 100) / 600 = 23.33

That means the Defects per hundred units (DHU) of that line is 23.33
