Shrinkage Test & percentage Calculation Procedure

1. Purpose and Benefits:

Factory-produced garments have set specific procedures for testing Domestic/hrinkage in order to maintain the tolerance of the next wash after customer use, which justifies the production of quality garments by factories.

ফ্যাক্টরির উৎপাদিত গার্মেন্টস সমূহ কাস্টমার ব্যবহার পরবর্তী ওয়াশের টলারেন্স ঠিক রাখার লক্ষ্যে ডমেস্টিক/স্রিঙ্ক্যাজ টেস্ট করার জন্য নির্দিষ্ট কর্মপদ্ধতি নির্ধারন করেছে যা ফ্যাক্টরি সমূহের গুনগত মান সম্পন্ন গার্মেন্টস উৎপাদনের যথার্থতা ন্যায্যতা দেয়।

2. Responsibility:

The persons in charge of the Technical Department, Production Department, Quality Department, and Washing / Lab Section will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of this procedure respectively.

দায়বদ্ধতাঃ
এই প্রসিডিউর বাস্তবায়ন ও বজায় রাখার জন্য দায়বদ্ধ থাকবেন যথাক্রমেঃ টেকনিক্যাল বিভাগ, প্রোডাকশন বিভাগ, কোয়ালিটি বিভাগ ও ওয়াশিং/ল্যাব সেকশন-এর দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত ব্যক্তিগণ।

3. Procedure:

3.1 After receiving the color-wise size set sample, the record should be kept by measuring according to the buyer's requirement point before garment wash.

3.2 The buyer must wash and measure according to the recipe and keep records.

3.3 Iron Approved Pattern Board with Iron Measurement, Record Preservation, and Send to Lab for Domestic Wash Test.

3.4 Garment garments should be re-washed for the domestic test as per care label instructions.

3.5 Garment Shrinkage should be reported after checking all the measurement points as per the buyer's requirement and if any problem is found, the knitting chart should be fixed on the measurement plus / minus points in consultation with the Technical Manager and Quality Head.

3.6 After bringing Shrinkage Percentage (%) into tolerance, PP-meetings should be held and approval should be sought from QAM, PM, and merchandiser before bulk production.

3.7 After starting production, Random Color-Wise Domestic Test should be done to ensure that the Shrinkage Percentage (%) is within tolerance.

3.8 Shrinkage is determined as;

Shrinkage % = (length of fabric before wash)-(length of fabric after wash))/ (length

of fabric after wash) *100

Example,

length of fabric before wash = 35 cm

length of fabric after wash = 33 cm

Now, Shrinkage % = {(35-33)/ 33} * 100

= 6%

Here, Shrinkage is 6%. Normally shrinkage is acceptable less than 5%. But it can be changed in case of buyer requirements.

Calculation for shrinkage percentage:

Shrinkage percentage = (Lo-L1) ×100/Lo Where,

Lo = the distance between the datum line before washing and

L1 = the distance between datum lines after washing.

Expression of results:

Calculate the mean changes in dimensions in both the length and width directions accordance with the arrangement in ISO 3759 as follows:

1. Express the average dimensional changes to the nearest 0.5%.

2. whether the dimension has decreased (shrinkage) by means of a minussign (-) or increased (extension) by means of a plus sign (+).

কার্যপ্রনালীঃ

3.1 কালার ওয়াইজ সাইজ সেট স্যাম্পল রিসিভ করার পর গার্মেন্টস ওয়াশে আগে বায়ার রিকোয়ারমেন্ট পয়েন্ট অনুযায়ী ম্যাজারমেন্ট করে রেকর্ড রাখতে হবে।

3.2 বায়ার এপ্রোভ রেসিপি অনুযায়ী ওয়াশ করে ম্যাজারমেন্ট করে রেকর্ড রাখতে হবে।

3.3 আয়রনের এপ্রোভ প্যাটার্ন বোর্ড দিয়ে আয়রন করে ম্যাজারমেন্ট করে রেকর্ড সংরক্ষণ করে ডমেস্টিক ওয়াশ টেস্ট-এর জন্য ল্যাব-এ পাঠাতে হবে।

3.4 কেয়ার লেবেল ইন্সট্রাকশন/নির্দেশনা অনুযায়ী গার্মেন্টস পুনঃরায় ডমেস্টিক টেস্ট-এর জন্য ওয়াশ করতে হবে।

3.5 বায়ার রিকোয়ারমেন্ট অনুযায়ী সকল ম্যাজারমেন্ট পয়েন্ট চেক করে গার্মেন্টস স্রিঙ্ক্যাজ রিপোর্ট করতে হবে এবং যদি কোন সমস্যা পাওয়া যায় টেকনিক্যাল ম্যানেজার ও কোয়ালিটি হেড-এর সাথে পরামর্শ করে ম্যাজারমেন্ট প্লাস/মাইনাস পয়েন্ট গুলোতে নিটিং চার্ট ঠিক করতে হবে।
